Will BHIM (UPI) app work if the debit card is blocked after setting up the UPI account?
UPI Pin Creation requires ATM Card details for the first Time only. After UPI pin is created and activated if ATM Card is closed or Blocked UPI services/transactions shall still work without any issues. UPI transactions can only be stopped by Unliking your UPI id with app that customer has liked with like BHIM/Phonepay/Paytm/Google Pay etc.
Yes one can still use it. blocking of debit card does not have any impact on actual transactions thru UPI based apps. if you want to stop the transaction then suspend the mobile banking facility on your account.
The role of debit card is just for identification of “owner of bank account” which is required for setting the MPIN/ UPIPIN. currently that’s the best way to identify individual remotely/ just over the phone.
Once the MPIN (mobile personal identification number) is set then the app does the transaction with just MPIN or other way round without debit cards details. so blocking of debit card does not have any impact on actual transactions.
